There is a lot of optimism around rookie quarterback Zach Wilson of the New York Jets after the team selected him No. 2 overall in the draft.

Wilson is expected to come in and start right away for the Jets and it would appear he's already developed a great chemistry with No. 1 wideout Corey Davis who came over from the Tennessee Titans in the offseason.

Per the Jets' team website, Davis spoke on the developing relationship between he and the rookie quarterback.

“We're definitely getting there [in terms of chemistry],” Davis said. “We've made a lot of huge strides the last week and a half, two weeks. I think Zach is a lot more comfortable in the pocket, he's been more accurate. I've been getting open and creating space to try and make it easier for him.”

The Jets had a great test this week as they got to go up against the Green Bay Packers in joint practices before the two square off Saturday in Week 2 of the preseason. Wilson soaked in the opportunity to pick the mind of the reigning MVP, Aaron Rodgers. For Davis, he got to go up against one of the best cornerbacks in the league in Jaire Alexander. It was an opportunity he relished.

“It was great going against them, some of the best in the league and he's definitely one of the best,” Davis said after the final session leading up to Saturday's late afternoon preseason matchup at Lambeau Field. “I'm not running from the work. I love it. I accept the challenge. He's one of the best and I want to do that all the time.”

It'll be interesting to see how much of the puzzle the Jets can piece together starting in 2021.
