After going 7-9 last season — their fourth straight year with a losing record, the New York Jets find themselves with the No. 11 pick in April's upcoming NFL Draft. While the team certainly showed improvement last season from the season prior, there are still multiple needs that the team can address with their first selection.

The Jets gave up 52 sacks last season — that was the third-highest mark in the league. If the Jets want to maximize the talent of quarterback Sam Darnold and running back Le'Veon Bell, they need to protect them and open up holes in the running game.

For that reason, while it might not be the most exciting pick, offensive tackle might be the move for NYJ at No. 11. There are several offensive tackles that could be available here: Louisville's Mekhi Becton, Georgia's Andrew Thomas, Iowa's Tristan Wirfs and Alabama's Jedrick Wills to name a few.

I think Wirfs is the best of the bunch but suspect he'll be gone by pick 11, As a result, Thomas, the 2019 unanimous All-American would make sense. He has seen his draft stock dip a bit in recent months but at 6-foot-5, 315 pounds with powerful hands, Thomas could be an All-Pro type talent.

If they stray away from offensive tackle, the Jets could look to make a splash and draft an exciting prospect like Oklahoma's CeeDee Lamb. The departure of Robby Anderson in free agency leaves a big gap at receiver for New York and while Breshad Perriman and Jamison Crowder have talent, they're not reliable No. 1 options.

Lamb was one of the most exciting players in college football and would give the Jets passing game the jolt it needs. An absolute monster after the catch with excellent hands and agility, there's no bigger playmaker than Lamb.

Lastly, the Jets could decide to address their need at cornerback. Some mock drafts have the draft's top CB in Ohio State's Jeff Okudah falling all the way to No. 11 but I don't think that's likely. Florida's C.J. Henderson is a good bet for the class' second-best corner and should be picked around the middle of the first round.

A speedy corner (4.39 forty time) with excellent size at 6-foot-1 and 204 pounds, Henderson has all the physical tools to be a shutdown guy at the next level. he needs to improve his balance and consistency but he's a solid option nonetheless.

Overall, while the Jets do need help at cornerback, I think there are more pressing needs. Drafting a star WR like Lamb or Jerry Jeudy definitely fits a need and is an exciting pick but it's hard to pass the ball effectively if you don't have time to throw.

As a result, I think the Jets go offensive tackle with their top pick with Thomas, Becton and Wills being the most likely selection.
