It was another day, another loss for the New York Jets on Sunday, as they suffered their 10th defeat of the season at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers, 34-28. For running back Frank Gore, who might just be on his final year in the league, the veteran seems to have come to terms with just how terrible his team is right now. Nevertheless, he is still hopeful that they will get that long-awaited W sooner rather than later.

Frank Gore admitted that it has been a forgettable campaign, but he also remains adamant that going 0-16 in his final year is not the way he wants to be remembered:

“You don't want to go 0-16, especially if this is my last year,” he said Sunday, via Rich Cimini of ESPN. “I can't go out like that.

“Hopefully, we can get one. And I can't wait until we get it. I'll be so happy. If it is my last year, I can't say I'm going out 0-16.”

That's quite a disheartening message from one of the greatest rushers in the history of the sport. It's so unfortunate that he has accepted his fate with the Jets, and how delighted he would be to win just one game this season. Needless to say, this is a bitter end to what has been a memorable career for Frank Gore — and one that is not fitting for a legend of the sport.

Whatever the case may be, Frank Gore and New York's next shot at their first victory of the campaign will come in the form of a matchup against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. While unlikely, this could just be the day the Jets have long been waiting for.
