For coaches, it seems like if you know Sean McVay, you're guaranteed a head coaching position. But for general managers, it seems like if you are a draft analyst, you're considered for the job. That may be true for Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network when it comes to the New York Jets.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Jeremiah is “under serious consideration” for a vacancy in the Jets' front office. Of course, this comes just hours after the Jets decided to fire Mike Maccagnan as their general manager.

The most confusing part is that the Jets waited until after they let Maccagnan pick the new head coach, spend a ton of money in free agency, and help decide on draft picks to fire him. It continues to be rough times in New York with the New York Knicks missing out on Zion Williamson.

Jeremiah was hired as the replacement for Mike Mayock on NFL Network. In addition, Mayock left NFL Network this past offseason to become the GM of the Oakland Raiders. It seems like Jeremiah could quickly be following in Mayock's footsteps once again.

Bringing in a draft analyst as a GM might start becoming a trend in the NFL. These guys have tons of knowledge when it comes to scouting and developing players, so teams see that as beneficial to a franchise.

One of the most important aspects of being a GM is being able to draft and find talent. Mayock was very good at his job on NFL Network for years. That likely got his foot in the door as a GM candidate and the same thing is currently happening to Mayock's replacement on NFL Network in Jeremiah.
