The New York Jets signed quarterback Trevor Siemian to a one-year deal earlier this offseason with the idea that he would be backing up Sam Darnold in 2019, but it doesn't look like Siemian has a firm hold on the No. 2 job. As a matter of fact, he may be losing it.

According to Connor Hughes of The Athletic, Davis Webb, whom the Jets also signed this offseason, has looked so good that he has passed Siemian on the depth chart, something that apparently occurred during the latter stages of organized team activities.

Hughes noted that Webb was the second quarterback to get reps during the final day of organized team activities, an indication that he is, in fact, the No. 2 signal-caller at the moment.

This really complicates matters for Siemian, as Hughes adds that the Jets would prefer to keep only two quarterbacks on the final 53-man roster. However, Siemian has already earned a $750,000 signing bonus and has $1 million of the $2 million on his contract guaranteed, so if New York decides to cut him, it would lose that money.

Of course, the Jets could also trade Webb, who was originally selected by the New York Giants in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Given the fact that young quarterbacks with some potential always tend to have value, the Jets may be able to recoup an asset in return for Webb should they decide to move him.

Siemian started at quarterback for the Denver Broncos for two seasons in 2016 and 2017, so the fact that he is in this current predicament just demonstrates how far he has fallen.
