New York Jets head coach Adam Gase and former general manager Mike Maccagnan didn't see eye to on much and one of the big sticking points was heading into the draft.

Most coaches want to give their influence so they can get players who fit their system best but Maccagnan wouldn't let him according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

According to a source inside the organization that didn't make Gase happy and he just shut down.

“It pissed Adam off,” a team source said. “Mike didn’t want him to speak up too much. It’s a weird philosophy.”

As a result of the treatment, Gase tried to be as hands off during the draft. Inside the draft room, he found that his seat was within the view the “war room camera” so he moved his chair so he wasn't.

“He literally took his seat and moved it [out of camera view],” a current team employee that was in the room said. “That was extreme.”

Gase might have been acting a little extreme but he did get his way getting Maccagnan out of the organization. He also might have bought himself an extra year or two because of the way the draft was conducted.

If this year's draft class doesn't work out Gase can say he didn't have much input in it and he would have taken different players. The hope is that Gase will be able to fit the guys into his system and the Jets can take that big step forward this year.
