The New York Jets are off to quite the start to the 2019 offseason while already making numerous splashes on the open market. However, because New York continues to add notable players on both sides of the football, the Jets may now be forced to part ways with some lingering talent.

According to a recent report from Rich Cimini of ESPN, the Jets could be looking to trade veteran linebacker Darron Lee.

“The future of linebacker Darron Lee will become a hot topic as we get closer to the draft. He became expendable when the Jets signed C.J. Mosley to a blockbuster contract. Publicly, the Jets will say they can find a role for Lee, who actually improved last season, but the sense I get is they will shop him during the draft. If there are no takers, they could hold on to him for a while longer, holding out hope. They had success with that approach two years ago, waiting until June to deal safety Calvin Pryor, another disappointing former first-round pick (No. 18 overall in 2014). The Jets have until May 3 to exercise Lee's fifth-year option, but that decision seems academic.”

New York is looking to turn things around in a hurry while the team's top free agent addition in former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell shows that the struggling AFC East franchise is serious about bouncing back immediately. With the New England Patriots winning yet another Super Bowl title this past season, the Jets remain in the midst of an uphill battle in the divisional standings.
