The biggest story in the NFL the past week has been the dysfunction surrounding the New York Jets. New coach Adam Gase won a power struggle last week that resulted in the firing of general manager Mike Maccagnan. Almost immediately after Maccagnan's firing, word leaked to the media that Gase had opposed the signing of Le'Veon Bell.

Bell was the biggest move the team made this offseason, and Maccagnan's signature acquisition. The Jets handed him a huge contract, so it was very Jets-like to find out the team's head coach never wanted him signed in the first place.

Rumors began popping up that the Jets could even trade Bell this summer before he ever plays a down as a Jet, but the team is pushing back on that speculation.

“One team source texted a flat ‘No' when asked about the possibility” by Ralph Vacchiano of SNY.

Even if there's a bit of tension, it doesn't sound like the running back is going anywhere. Bell took to Twitter to insist that even if it were true it wouldn't matter, and it's not like Gase hates him as a player.

The reports at the time said Gase liked Bell, but just didn't want him at the price the Jets were getting him.

Gase apparently wanted a cheaper running back like Tevin Coleman, who ended up signing with the 49ers. While there's been a ton of drama, it will all be water under the bridge if Bell delivers this season.

If he looks like his old self and is putting up monster numbers, nobody will remember this whole ordeal ever happened.
