The New York Jets have already been linked to just about every high profile player that could hit the free agent market this offseason. However, the Jets may have to employ an addition by subtraction strategy early on in the 2019 offseason in order to properly spread some wealth throughout the team's roster.

As a result, former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jermaine Kearse could be on his way out of East Rutherford sooner rather than later, according to a recent report from Connor Hughes of The Athletic.

“Wideout Jermaine Kearse isn’t expected to return to the Jets for a third season, according to another source,” writes Hughes.

Hughes also made a point to note that the Jets will be linked to some other wide receivers this offseason, mainly those that can play in the slot so it appears.

“Keep an eye on Donte Moncrief and Danny Amendola when the new league year begins, along with Cowboys receiver Cole Beasley, according to league sources,” Hughes adds.

Lastly, the Jets could add to the franchise's passing attack by way of signing a veteran tight end.

“There’s interest from the Jets in a reunion with tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins,” says Hughes. “The 26-year-old, whom the Bucs drafted in the second round in 2014, spent two years with the Jets before signing with the Jaguars last offseason. He caught 50 passes for 374 yards and three touchdowns in 2017. The Jets had interest in re-signing Seferian-Jenkins last offseason, but wouldn’t match Jacksonville’s two-year, $10 million offer. The Jaguars declined the second year of Seferian-Jenkins’ contract last month, which is why he’s a free agent.”

New York missed out on the postseason in 2018-19, but it appears as though New York is all in on making it a swift turnaround.
