The New York Jets are not likely to re-sign wide receiver Robby Anderson, according to Connor Hughes of The Athletic.

Anderson is set to be a free agent next month and said this past season that he would not take a hometown discount to remain with the Jets. Hughes notes that New York would love to bring Anderson back on a deal similar to the one DeVante Parker got from the Miami Dolphins (four years, $40 million). But Anderson may very well exceed that on the open market.

While there will certainly be more talented and/or established wide outs available, such as Amari Cooper (who seems likely to re-up with the Dallas Cowboys), A.J. Green and Emmanuel Sanders, Anderson has a couple of things working in his favor.

First of all, Anderson is younger than both Green and Sanders. That means teams would probably be more amenable to giving him a long-term deal. Second, Anderson has been very durable over the course of his career, having missed just two games since entering the NFL in 2016.

In addition, Anderson could be a guy who breaks out with the right team, as he has been a member of a Jets club that has had a very unstable quarterback situation.

The 26-year-old is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he caught 52 passes for 779 yards and five touchdowns. But his best season came in 2017, when he hauled in 63 receptions for 941 yards and seven scores.

A product of Temple, Anderson actually went undrafted back in 2016 before landing with the Jets as a free agent.
