The 2018 NFL Draft is expected to feature a number of top quarterback prospects being selected early on. One of the teams expected to get in on the action is the New York Jets.

It is no secret that the Jets plan on taking a quarterback with the third overall pick. However, it remains to be seen which player they hope to land.

According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield and UCLA's Josh Rosen appear to be at the top of their wish list

Jets GM Mike Maccagnan was more tight-lipped than usual today in his pre-draft session with reporters. He wouldn't confirm the obvious (they will draft a quarterback) and he wouldn't give any details on how they evaluate the quarterbacks. He wouldn't even comment on the importance of hand size when evaluating quarterbacks, saying it could tip their … well, hand. Chances are, it'll be a Baker Mayfield-Josh Rosen decision. Some key people in the organization prefer Mayfield, but Rosen has some support as well.

New York made their intentions to draft a quarterback clear when they traded up with the Indianapolis Colts from the sixth overall spot. Although they had already initially been in a position to take one of the top-4 quarterback prospects, it appears the Jets wanted to have some flexibility in their potential options.

Needless to say, they have managed to do just that. Recent projections suggest that New York could have the choice between taking either Rosen or Mayfield at third overall. Although the Cleveland Browns have also expressed interest in Mayfield, reports suggest that the No. 1 overall pick is a toss-up between USC's Sam Darnold and Wyoming's Josh Allen. Meanwhile, the New York Giants are apparently considering all their options at the No. 2 spot.

Fortunately, the Jets managed to address their immediate need at quarterback by bringing back veteran Josh McCown and signing Teddy Bridgewater this offseason. This means that they should have more than enough time to develop whichever player they ultimately take in the draft.
