Chris Herndon is not a household NFL name, but he has been becoming a fan favorite for the New York Jets this season. As a rookie this season with the Jets, Herndon has taken over the starting tight end duties. He is also beginning to make fans and the media in New York think that he might be around for a long time.

That being said, Herndon made yet another highlight catch this afternoon against the Green Bay Packers. After running a slant route, Herndon dove and made a spectacular one-handed catch and then proceeded to get hit and hold onto the football.

Take a look at the amazing catch for yourself:

Needless to say, that kind of play isn't made by just any player. Herndon is showing that he has the talent and potential to become something special for the Jets.

Coming into this afternoon's matchup with the Packers, Herndon had caught 32 passes for 412 yards and three touchdowns. As of this writing, Herndon had caught three passes for 54 yards against Green Bay.

Standing in at 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds, Herndon is a very tough task for opposing defenses to defend. He has excellent speed and has great athleticism as well. Those qualities are going to make him a very good tight end for the Jets for quite a few years to come.

New York may not be a playoff contender right now, but they are headed in the right direction. They jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead on Aaron Rodgers and the Packers today.

Expect to see Herndon continue improving over the next few years and to become a very dangerous target for the Jets.
