Another member of the Gore family is making waves on the football scene. New York Jets running back Frank Gore's son, Frank Gore Jr., recently made his debut on the gridiron as a true freshman playing for Southern Mississippi.

The 5'8″, 165-pound player nearly scored a touchdown in his first appearance for the Golden Eagles via Pro Football Focus College on Twitter:

He recorded a team-high 12 carries along with 33 rushing yards to contribute to his team's 32-21 losing effort against Southern Alabama. Better performances are expected from the younger Gore who is facing a tall task to follow in the footsteps of his notable father.

On the other hand, Frank Gore Sr. is also looking to open a new chapter in his lengthy football career. He is coming off a one-year run with the Buffalo Bills where he posted tallies of 599 rushing yards on 166 attempts along with two scored touchdowns on 16 appearances last season.

He recently relocated to the New York Jets during the offseason where he signed as a free agent on a one-year deal. The veteran ball-carrier is now set to enter his 17th season in the league and currently sits at third all-time in rushing yards. Gore will be looking to provide a much-needed boost and veteran presence for the subpar Jets offense in the upcoming season.

It will be interesting to see if we will get to witness a father-son tandem to play in the league, especially with the elder Gore still not showing any signs of slowing down.
