With just under 11 minutes to go in the New York Jets' matchup against the Denver Broncos, New York cornerback Pierre Desir intercepted Denver quarterback Brett Rypien at the 30-yard line, returning the pass for a touchdown that brought New York within two points of the Broncos.

Originally drafted in the 4th round of the NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns, the Jets are Desir's 5th franchise, as the corner has struggled to maintain a high level of play, despite showing flashes of quality talent throughout his 7 years in the league. Picked up by the Jets following his release from the Indianpolis Colts earlier this year, the interception is the corner's second of the season, following his pick of Nick Mullens of the San Francisco 49ers, only 4 days ago.  Similar to uneven performances in the past, the pick-six  was preceded 2 TD's, 134 yards and 8 receptions allowed by Desir, according to NextGenStats.

Playing against the similarly winless Denver Broncos, the Jets are in desperate need of a win after failing to tally a victory in their first three weeks and accumulating a negative point-differential of 57–easily the worst in the NFL. Facing a Broncos team without their starting quarterback, Drew Lock, as well as their all-pro linebacker, Von Miller, a loss would only intensify calls for the removal of head-coach Adam Gase, despite having been on the job for just over a year.

Should New York fail to capitalize on the momentum generated by Desir, it is likely they will be heavy underdogs for every opponent they face for the next 5 weeks, until a match against the Miami Dolphins in mid-November. A dispiriting thought for every Jets fan.
