After the lack of interest he had from NBA teams this offseason, former BYU star Jimmer Fredette decided to bring his talents to China and joined the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association. On Sunday night, he had a chance to showcase his skills once again in the U.S. when his new team faced the Houston Rockets in an exhibition game.

The Yao Ming-owned team might have been blown out 131-94 but the former NCAA Player of the Year made a good account of himself in showing everyone who watched that he is a cut above the rest and deserves another shot in the NBA by leading all scorers with 33 points along with eight assists. He scored on a variety of shots and even included a half-court buzzer beater in the 3rd period. Here are his highlights as uploaded by the official NBA YouTube channel:

Fredette was selected 10th overall in the 2011 draft but never got the chance to have decent amount of minutes with the Sacramento Kings where he spent his first three seasons in the league. He then had stints with the Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans and most recently, with the New York Knicks last season after honing his game in the D-League where he became an All-Star and All-Star Game MVP.

He may not have much to show with his very pedestrian NBA career averages of 6.0 points, 1.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 13.4 minutes per game but after his performance on Sunday night, the 6-foot-2 guard hopes he has done enough to turn heads of scouts in attendance. Should he makes a successful comeback to the NBA and have a team where he'll be a good fit, Fredette certainly can contribute and be at least a serviceable shooter off the bench.
