Despite making the playoffs this past season, it was a roller-coaster ride for much of the year for the Chicago Bulls centered around some internal conflict on the team.

Much of this came about with Rajon Rondo butting heads with several players on the team most notably Dwyane Wade. In light of that, Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that both Wade and Jimmy Butler prefer another point guard that could be a factor with his outside shooting ability.

A Bulls source indicated that the message coming out of the meetings with both Butler and Wade was the “Three Alphas’’ storyline has played out.

While Butler and Wade personally have no problem with Rajon Rondo, they would like a proven outside threat at point guard  to open up the floor.

The Bulls are looking for a greater sense of direction this offseason which could indubitably mean major alterations to the core of the team. Butler's name has become prominently mentioned in trade rumors being linked to the likes of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves, but his presence on the team hasn't been an issue.

What could impact Chicago's decision-making process this summer is that Wade holds a $23.8 million player option for next season that could be affected by what the team chooses to do with Rondo, whose $10 million of his $13.4 million salary for next year will kick in after June 30.

With each of these players' future up in the air for different reasons, it has created several different directions that the franchise could head over the next few months. The only thing that appears to be certain at this point is that some big changes to the roster are on the horizon.
