J.J. Redick didn't surprise many with his decision to continue his career outside of Los Angeles and the L.A. Clippers, opting sign with the Philadelphia 76ers instead. As a huge part of the offense for the past four seasons, but he decided to take his talents to Philadelphia on a one-year, $23 million deal.

Asked to discuss if he had any ill feelings towards his former team, the 33-year-old shooting guard made it clear in the first episode of his podcast, the Chronicles of Redick on Uninterrupted, that he has nothing but good memories with them. He also added that his decision was brought about by the need to have a change and new environment, which he thinks is the best for his career at this point.

“Leaving (the Clippers), I don't have any ill will towards anyone, certainly. There (is) certainly no one to blame or anything like that. I think Chris (Paul) in his press conference, or in the article with (ESPN's) Marc Spears the other day said it best. Sometimes, it just doesn't work and you need a change — you need a change in your life. And you wish everyone the best and you move on.

“I think (the Clippers) had five straight 50-win seasons. You know, I was part of four of those. We had a lot of success. I think we were second or third-best record (in the Western Conference) over the last four years. We just couldn't get it done in the postseason.”

An 11-year league veteran, Redick will have the opportunity to play with a very young core with the Sixers, and will be expected to be their veteran mentor. He will also provide them with a lot of playoff experience and shooting from outside. His skill set will give the likes of Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons more room to operate on the floor, and should only make his new team a whole lot better.

His statement shows how much he respects the organization and what they have done for him the past four years. The Clippers have since moved on and acquired key pieces for them to build with. Redick, on the other hand, will have a fresh start in Philadelphia and a chance to be part of a promising young team geared for success if they can stay healthy.
