After seeing the Houston Rockets play up close on Sunday, J.J. Watt now has a deeper understanding of how NBA teams compete in the playoffs. It also turned the Houston Texans defensive end to a huge fan of Patrick Beverley.

The night started awkwardly for the two stars though, as Watt revealed how he and his girlfriend, Houston Dash star Kealia Ohai, felt when Beverley stared at them for several seconds during a timeout. He then gave him a lot of credit for his strong performance.

”I was like: ‘Pat, I don't know what you want me to do here, man. I can't really do anything,' He's just staring me down. And my girlfriend looked at me and she was like: ‘That was kind of cool and kind of awkward at the same time.' I was like: ‘Yeah it was.' I didn't know what to do.”

”That dude knocks him out, and I was like: ‘OK, we may have a problem you're messing with my guy Pat.”'

When asked why he likes Beverley's demeanor on the court, Watt compared him to an X-Men character for being fearless.

”He just has a way of getting you fired up. He is like the Wolverine out there. He's fearless. I love the way that guy plays and it was just fun to watch that guy put on a show.”

Although it remains to be seen if Watt will once again watch the Rockets play in Game 2 on Wednesday night, the veteran point guard may already have extra motivation to play better, knowing that he has a new fan, which is also happens to be one of the biggest stars in the NFL.
