Even if his move from the Chicago Bulls to the New York Knicks happened almost four months ago, Joakim Noah still cannot believe that he's playing for the city where he was born.

During the team's home debut last Saturday, the 6-foot-11 big man showed the defensive intensity he is capable of providing the Knicks to help them win their first game of the season against the Memphis Grizzlies, 111-104. Beyond the win, he admitted to feeling emotional after his dream finally came through after three decades.

Per Daniel Popper of the New York Daily News:

“This building means so much to me. It was very emotional for me. I was very nervous. But it was the best. It’s the best feeling in the world to be able to play in this building.

“Growing up here, walking distance, I’ve been in this building for a lot of games as a fan. So just to be able to wear this jersey, it’s more than special to me.”

The 31-year-old has always been known for playing with a lot of heart and not being afraid to show his emotions on the court. With his style of play, it won't be surprising at all if Noah is soon one of the crowd-favorites.

Joakim Noah is expected to play a huge role for the Knicks this season in their quest to make it back to the playoffs after missing the postseason the past three years.
