The Los Angeles Angels lost yet another heartbreaker in June, as the Philadelphia Phillies stormed back to pick up a 9-7 home win on Sunday to clinch the three-game series sweep.

The Angels built an early 5-0 lead in the contest, which included an RBI single by outfielder Jo Adell during the team's five-run fourth inning. However, the Angels' bullpen woes once again continued, as an eighth inning grand slam by Bryce Harper coupled with a walk-off, three-run home run by Bryson Stott completed the comeback for Philadelphia.

Speaking after the loss, Angels manager Joe Maddon touched on the collapse against the Phillies, where he noted that he at the least had the “right guys” in over the late stages of the game.

“We've lost a lot of tough ones,” Maddon said. “It really makes no sense, we got the right guys out there at the right time. Again, we gave it up late, we got to get that fixed.

“I love the fight all day … we gotta finish these games off.”

Maddon called upon relievers Aaron Loup, Raisel Iglesias and Jimmy Herget to finish off the contest. Loup and Iglesias — both of whom signed lucrative multiyear deals in the offseason — combined to allow six runs in the game, while a 74 mph curveball by Herget was sent to the stands by Stott.

The Angels have now dropped 11 games in a row and are under the .500 mark for the first time since April 14. They are now set for a seven-game homestand against the Boston Red Sox and New York Mets.
