Earlier last month, Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown hinted that although the team has not made any official statement yet, Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons may not participate in this year’s Summer League. Now, their general manager has released the decision made by the team on their two phenom's Summer League chances.

According to Bryan Colangelo, both youngsters will not be playing in the Utah event and will focus on recovering completely from their respective injuries.

Embiid appeared in only 31 games for the Sixers, but still made a lasting mark as he averaged 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game. Simmons, on the other, was the top overall pick from last year’s draft but he suffered a Jones Fracture on his right foot on the last day of training camp which forced him to miss the entire campaign.

Despite the absence of the two, there will be no shortage of young and exciting talent in the Summer League, as the top prospects of the draft are all slated to see action.
