Kentucky Wildcats coach John Calipari is known as a bit of a recruiting mastermind on the college basketball recruitment trail. I'm sure you've heard about it before.

However, even while admitting that he would have liked to add another big to his most recent recruiting class, the legendary head coach did make it a point to say, if not downright admit, his teams tend to do best when the rotation is tight.

“I thought it was important (adding a stretch four via transfer),” John Calipari said of adding another big man to his roster. “…I would’ve liked to (add a big man) But I’ll be honest: the best teams I’ve coached, we played six or seven guys.”

Having gone after James Wiseman relatively hard in the offseason, but with the big man choosing the Memphis Tigers over Big Blue Nation, this is one of the rare classes featuring zero “true” centers for Calipari.

That being said, given how his Kentucky Wildcats will still have a ton of five-star talent and future NBA players scattered all over the roster, I'm sure Calipari will be fine.

Nevertheless, the college basketball season tips in roughly two weeks. Given Cal's comments on liking shorter rotations, it'll be interesting to see just how short his bench is come opening tip.
