Washington Wizards point guard John Wall has played like a man possessed this postseason, and it wasn't any more evident than how he's outplayed his matchup Dennis Schroder of the Atlanta Hawks.

Wall even threw in a mean staredown at Schroder late in Game 2, which begged the question, where did the beef between the two start?

“You remember last time we played (the Hawks) in the playoffs, when I broke my hand?” Wall said, according to The Washington Post's Dan Steinberg. “You see the picture he posted, going to the conference finals. And I'm just sitting there, like, sad face, with my hand wrapped, and him and (Kent) Bazemore just laughing. It's just about history. Just history in the game.”

Wall is referring to this photo, which was posted shortly after the Hawks beat the Wizards in Game 6 of the 2015 Eastern Conference semifinals — a memory that has been clearly engraved in his memory since then.

The Raleigh native has played like a bat out of hell, averaging 32 points and 11.5 assists through two games in the best-of-seven series. Wall has been very efficient while carrying the scoring load, shooting 47.7 percent from the floor and making 4-of-6 treys.

Whether the resentment is deeper than his dislike for Schroder's showmanship, a motivated John Wall is bound to bring the best out of his game throughout the playoffs.
