The Oakland Raiders suffered a major setback this past Sunday, falling to the New York Jets by a score of 34-3. The loss dropped the Raiders to 6-5 on the year and prevented them from maintaining sole possession of the second Wild Card spot in the AFC.

An interesting little tidbit is that Oakland, which played its loss to the Jets at the Meadowlands, is now 2-9 in games started by Derek Carr when the temperature is under 50 degrees.

Of course, the Raiders have done a whole lot of losing since 2003, so I'm not sure how much we can make of their record in cold weather. But it does seem worthy of note, especially considering Oakland will be battling the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in a contest that will likely be under 50 degrees next weekend.

So, what does head coach Jon Gruden think about the whole situation? Not much:

“I’m not a genius. I’m not Thomas Edison, I don’t know how to do that,” Gruden said when asked if he is going to try and get to the bottom of the Raiders' struggles in cold weather, according to Jerry McDonald of The East Bay Times. “We’re just trying to show pictures of people that are cold that deal with cold. I don’t know. We’re not going to overanalyze it.”

Oakland has not won at Kansas City since 2012, and the Chiefs are now coming out of a bye week, where Andy Reid clubs are well-known to shine. Plus, Patrick Mahomes is on their side.

Taking all of those factors into consideration, Week 13 will be a very tough task for a Raiders club that now finds itself in desperate need of a win after losing what was supposed to be one of the easiest games on its schedule this past Sunday.
