Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is set to make his jump to the heavyweight division for his next match. As per Yahoo Sports, UFC President Dana White has already confirmed that Jones will await the winner of the upcoming bout between reigning heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and top contender Francis Ngannou slated for UFC 260 on March 27.

Jones last appeared on the octagon back in February of 2020 when he defended his light heavyweight championship belt against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247. He won via a unanimous decision to retain his title and improve his overall record to 26-1-0-1NC.

Since then, Jones eventually encountered a bevy of incidents outside the octagon in the succeeding months. He rejected a contract to make a jump to the heavyweight division and outright challenge Ngannou for the championship belt. Jones received charges for a DWI case back in late March of 2020 and ultimately pleaded guilty to the accusations.

He also had a spat with Dana White and threatened to leave the UFC for two to three years. Jones then decided to vacate the light heavyweight title which he has successfully defended 11 times in his career.

Waiting for him in the heavyweight division is Miocic who has been holding the crown since August of 2019 after defeating former champion and Bones rival Daniel Cormier by way of a TKO victory.
