Jonathon Simmons had himself a night coming off the bench for the San Antonio Spurs as he scored 20 points in 28 minutes, none sweeter than this tomahawk slam over JaVale McGee to seal a 129-100 win in the season-opener against the Golden State Warriors.

Simmons had a great showing and nothing could put it as emphatically as him baptizing poor McGee who can't seem to catch a break, even during the last winding seconds of the game. Take a look.

The shooting guard out of the University of Houston was piping hot, going 8-of-13 from the field (including 6-of-6 in the first half) and 3-of-5 from deep. Simmons also collected four rebounds and dealt out three assists, making a case for a starting spot in place of Kyle Anderson — who only attempted one shot during his 22-minute stint on the court.

The Spurs seemed to get every shot they wanted, making 47 out of 96 attempts from the field en route to a 29-point blowout of the two-time defending Western Conference champions.

Jonathon Simmons is looking good in the eyes of coach Gregg Popovich and if he keeps playing and defending with the right aggression, it won't be long until he's running alongside Kawhi Leonard on the wing.
