With the Los Angeles Clippers trading Chris Paul to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday morning, the door has opened for many other possibilities around the league.

This has already led to reports that veteran guard J.J. Redick, who will be an unrestricted free agent starting July 1, has ruled out a return back to the Clippers. In light of that, Los Angeles Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson reached out to Redick via Twitter.

Although the tweet was deleted shortly thereafter, it at least shows that there is interest to see the 33-year-old make the jump across the hall to the Lakers. Redick is one of the best shooters in the league and would be a welcome sight in the team's uptempo offense under head coach Luke Walton, which involves spreading the floor and a heavy reliance on 3-point shooting.

That said, there has yet to be any indication that the Lakers hold interest in bringing him aboard. The team does currently possess about $18 million in salary cap space, which is at the bottom tier of the base salary price range that Redick is looking to get on the open market. It's hard to believe at this point that management would lock up that financial flexibility prior to next summer.

It has become clear that the Lakers have their eyes set on creating enough salary cap room to sign a pair of superstar players to max contracts next offseason. The likes of Paul George, LeBron James, DeMarcus Cousins, and Chris Paul could all be unrestricted free agents.

Still, Los Angeles is looking to add more shooters to the mix this summer, and Redick could become a feasible option in free agency. All of this just makes for a more intriguing conversation leading up to what should be another highly entertaining offseason.
