In a team that has Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green in it, there’s little chance someone like Jordan Poole would garner attention from fans. But like how the Golden State Warriors have surprised everyone during the past decade, Poole is making a case for his name to be known.

It isn’t everyday when a young stud stands out on a championship-caliber team. We take look at how this 22-year old shooting guard is currently performing and the effect it has on his rookie cards.

The Main Reason Why Jordan Poole Rookie Cards Are Going Up

Just a few months ago, there was little to no fanfare for someone like Poole in the hobby. This was understandable since he joined the Warriors during a time almost all their major stars were injured. This left the team far from what they were during their consecutive championship runs.

In Poole’s first season in the NBA, the then-rookie posted forgettable averages of 8.8 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.1 rebounds in 22.4 minutes per game. His shooting efficiency wasn’t all that hot either, with 33% from the field, 28% from downtown 79% from the free-throw line.

Warriors, Jordan Poole cards

After Golden State’s disastrous 2019-20 season, they finally had Curry back in the lineup to steer them back to contention. Poole’s sophomore campaign saw him improve a little to help the Warriors reach the postseason. In the 51 games he played, the shooting guard posted 12 points on 43% shooting from the field, 35% from deep, and 88% from the charity stripe. Although this isn’t a massive leap, the improvement in Poole’s game is noticeable from an efficiency standpoint.

While these numbers are meager at best, Poole’s performance during the preseason blew the lid wide open. In the three games Golden State has played so far, the young guard is averaging 25 points in 23.4 minutes. He’s also connecting 43.8 percent of his 4.7 attempts from beyond the arc during those contests. Needless to say, this is a pretty solid leap from where Poole was when the last season ended.

Two years have gone by since the Warriors reached the NBA Finals. Since then, the landscape of the league has changed tremendously. Golden State, in particular, has been nowhere near their championship form. Along with the return of Thompson, the ascension of Jordan Poole can greatly help their franchise return to relevance.

The Current State Of Jordan Poole Rookie Cards In The Market

The 2019 NBA Draft is a clear-cut favorite among collectors. With the likes of Ja Morant, Zion Williamson, RJ Barrett, and Tyler Herro, there’s no shortage of options in this class. The thing is, Poole was virtually an unknown to most hobbyists.

That isn’t the case now with his impressive showing during the preseason. At the end of August, PSA 10 prices for base Prizm Jordan Poole rookie cards were hovering at the $61 mark. Since then, that figure has peaked at $150 before settling at $100 right now. With this kind of upward trend, it won’t be hard to imagine a higher ceiling for this up-and-coming player.

Without a doubt, the Warriors’ offense will flow through Curry, Thompson, Green, and to some extent, Andrew Wiggins. The problem for this team is when these guys need to rest or an injury comes out of nowhere. This is where Poole can step up and prove he isn’t just a one-trick pony. If he gets to do that, expect his rookie card value to take a leap as well.
