Chelsea talent Jorginho has been in the news for all the wrong reasons recently; though he wanted to make sure he changed that narrative as soon as possible.

Chelsea's previous matchup against a contending Liverpool squad in the Premier League was a game to forget for the Blues as they found themselves on the losing end of a 2-0 final score. Center back Andreas Christensen was penalized with a red card before the halftime which caused Chelsea to lose their momentum for the remainder of the match. Midfielder Jorginho also had a costly miss from 12 yards in the loss.

The 28-year old Italian player wanted to make it up for his squad and responded with two scores on the penalty spot for Chelsea in their following match against Crystal Palace. The encounter eventually ended on a 4-0 outcome in favor of the Blues to grab their second win of the season. Jorginho then voiced out his sentiments on his bounce-back performance after the matchup:

“Me personally, when I missed it, I felt bad because you want to score to help your team but straight after the game I want to take another one because you feel bad, you feel down, and you want to make it right,” he told the team's official website ahead of their home meeting with Southampton on Saturday.

“So you want to prove everyone wrong what they are saying about you and that was me, I want to prove that I can do it, and I think the best way is to believe in yourself, and I do.

“I didn’t have extra nerves. It was okay because of this, because I believe in myself and I just wanted to take it.”

He has been efficient from the penalty stripe as he has successfully scored 10 of the 11 previous penalties he has struck for the Blues, as well as 23 out of the 25 he has taken for club and country. Chelsea manager Frank Lampard and his men are heading to their next game against Southampton with a 2-1-2 record while being listed at the sixth spot in the Premier League standings.
