Former MLB player Jose Canseco is ready to return to combat sports. But it won’t be to fight against internet personality Logan Paul, who he has called out for months. Instead, Canseco will be fighting Barstool Sports intern Billy Football, per TMZ Sports.

While a fight with Paul isn’t set in stone for now, the 56-year old former outfielder and designated hitter has agreed to fight Football, a contributor on the Pardon My Take podcast. The fight is scheduled to take place on Super Bowl weekend next month at Barstool’s Rough N’ Rowdy boxing event along with other fights.

Canseco, a two-time World Series champion, six-time All Star, and the 1988 AL MVP, has previous experience in combat sports, having previously fought South Korean kickboxer Hong-man Choi back in 2009 in his mixed martial arts debut, during which he suffered a first-round defeat due to submission.

But the 1986 AL Rookie of the Year, who played for six teams during his MLB career, most notably the Oakland Athletics, said that he is still preparing for a fight against Paul in the future because of his breakup with his daughter Josie, a model and internet personality, which he said “left a bad taste in his mouth.”

Jose Canseco, however, will have to wait before being able to face Paul, as the latter is scheduled to face the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Feb. 20 in an exhibition bout. The 25-year-old Paul made his professional boxing debut in November 2019 in Los Angeles, fighting fellow internet personality KSI and losing via split decision after a six-round bout.
