Two-time NBA champion JR Smith recently landed a flashy NIL deal with Lululemon. The former basketball sharpshooter left the game last year to pursue a career in college golf at North Carolina AT&T. He is the first male golfer to sign with Lululemon. He will be featured across Lululemon's campaign for their apparel, including their current Evolution Polo campaign.

JR Smith is currently in his second semester as a freshman at North Carolina AT&T. The 36-year old made an estimated $90 million dollars during his NBA career. But that certainly has not stopped him from pursuing big checks in college since college athletes are now eligible for endorsement deals.

PGA Tour insider Dan Rapaport shared how he thinks PGA players may feel about the deal.

“And the first golfer Lululemon signs is….JR Smith. Sure there are a few tour pros out there that are a leeeeetle jealous right about now.”

But the fact is that Smith is a popular name in the golf world right now. Brands have displayed interest in him since he began his college golfing career, according to ESPN. Leaving the NBA to pursue college golf is quite the story.

“In January, Smith signed with Excel Sports Management for NIL representation. Smith's agent, Lance Young, told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski at the time that there was high interest from golf apparel and equipment manufacturers in sponsoring Smith.”

JR Smith will look to continue his impressive resume moving forward. He is already know for being an NBA player and college athlete, but now he can add brand ambassador to his eye-catching resume.
