Apparently, compiling the second-most receiving yards ever in a season wasn't satisfying enough for Atlanta Falcons wideout Julio Jones. He wants more, and he's going after it this season.

In 2015, Jones racked up 1,871 yards through the air, an incredibly impressive feat, especially when you consider that he has Matt Ryan tossing him the pigskin. Heading into the 2016 season, Julio has his sights set on 2,000 receiving yards, a milestone never achieved in NFL history.

From Vaughn McClure of ESPN:

“I can, but I'm going to do what helps the team win,” Jones told ESPN.com. “If that's me getting 2,000 on the way to being a great teammate, let's do it. But if it's not required for me to win games, hey, I'm all about winning.”

Given his breathtaking physical abilities and track record in the NFL, Julio's teammates certainly believe he's capable of breaking through the 2,000-yard plateau.

Matt Ryan's take on the prospect, via McClure:

“Can he do it? Absolutely he can. Is it a good thing? If we've won 16 games, it's a great thing,” Ryan said. “Julio will tell you the same thing. If it's going to help us win, hell yeah it's a good thing. It depends on wins. At the end of the day, that's all that's important.”

The record belongs to recently retired Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who amassed 1,964 yards on 122 receptions in 2012. If anybody can surpass Megatron in the record books, it's probably Julio Jones.
