The Miami Heat will be without their starting small forward, Justise Winslow, indefinitely due to a lingering wrist injury.

According to the 20-year-old, he suffered the injury a few weeks ago after a bad fall ended up with him landing on it. He played through the pain but it has been bothering his shot. Winslow sat out their game against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday and watched his team lose, 93-90.

Asked when he thinks he can get back on the court, Winslow did not provide an exact timeline but explained why he's opting to rest it until fully healed.

“We'll see. I don't want to come back too soon and then I take three steps forward and 10 steps backward. I want to get it to where it's feeling 100 percent, where if I do hit against something, it doesn't hurt. I don't know how long it will take.”

“I was falling too much, landing on it. I was doing my best to play through it. I could play through it, but it's a long season. I want to get healthy.”

The good news for the South Beach faithful is that X-rays came back negative and even if he's out indefinitely, it doesn't sound like he'll miss a very significant amount of time. The Duke product has been solid for the Heat this season with averages of 11.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.7 steals in 35.9 minutes per game and the team cannot afford not to have him for a long time.

Luke Babbit and James Johnson are both expected to see an uptick in their minutes as they fill in the void left by Winslow.
