A rebuilding Miami Heat team just lost one of the key components to its growth as swingman Justise Winslow is set to undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder on Tuesday, the team announced.

The procedure is likely to sideline him for the rest of the season.

Team president Pat Riley wanted Winslow to step up as the vocal leader of the team, despite him being only a second-year player.

The Duke standout has done his part, tallying 10.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists this season while playing his signature stingy defense and making the most of his minutes on the floor.

Winslow has improved his scoring by more than 4.5 points and his assist total by 2.2 from last season.
