Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt is currently featuring in his third season with the Serie A powerhouse, but his name has been in the transfer rumor mill as of late.

Over the past months, de Ligt has been linked with moves to the likes of Barcelona and Chelsea. While de Ligt debunked the rumors of a possible move to the former last May, such reports have still continued to mount by the month.

Mino Raiola, de Ligt's agent, recently fueled the rumors of a potential exit for him next year when he noted last month that the Dutch defender “could also leave Juventus at the end of the season.”

Even amid the growing uncertainty of whether de Ligt is currently playing in the final season of his run with the Bianconeri, Giorgio Chiellini wants the defender to stay put at the club.

In speaking to DAZN (via CalcioMercato), Chiellini touched on de Ligt's future at Juventus, where he pleaded to Raiola to not push for the Dutchman to leave the club over next year's summer transfer window.

“I hope that Mino (Raiola) will do us the favor of leaving him in Turin for a few more years,” Chiellini said. “He has everything, but it's his head that makes the difference; he is 22 years old and has the mentality of a 30-year-old and aims to improve every day.”

The Dutch talent has two more seasons remaining on his current contract deal with the club. Unless he soon comes to terms with Juventus club officials on an extension agreement, the rumors and reports of a possible departure for him next year surely will continue to pile on by the week.
