All signs have been pointing to Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Juventus, with Manchester City the likely destination. Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri confirmed Ronaldo is on his way out and is done with the club.
“Cristiano Ronaldo told me yesterday that he wants to leave Juventus immediately. It’s true and confirmed. This is why he wasn’t training today and he’s not available for tomorrow match vs Empoli.”
Allegri had more to say about the Ronaldo situation:
“I’m not disappointed by Cristiano Ronaldo. He wants to leave Juventus and he made a choice, he’s gonna look for a new club after three years here. It’s part of the life.”
Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus in 2018 after lengthy stints with Manchester United (2003-09) and Real Madrid (2009-2018). He signed a four-year contract with the club after completing a €100 million transfer. This deal also included €12 million in additional fees and was historic because it was the largest transfer for a player over 30 years old and was the highest paid by an Italian club.
The 36-year-old led Juventus to consecutive Serie A titles in his first two years there before they were dethroned in 2021. The club also fell in the Champions League Round of 16 in 2021.
In 98 Serie A appearances with Juventus, Cristiano Ronaldo racked up 81 goals. He became the fastest player ever to hit 100 goals (101 total) with Juventus. But now after three years, the superstar wants another challenge as he hits the twilight of his career.
Man City is ready with a major offer of €30 million to acquire Ronaldo's services from Juventus. It sure sounds like this will be done in the coming days.
