Chelsea is ready to step up and meet the asking price for Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Kai Havertz after agreeing to pay the full asking price of $118 million, according to Goal.com.

The Blues are expected to pay an initial £72 million ($95 million) to haul in the 21-year-old midfielder extraordinaire to Stamford Bridge, paying the remainder of his transfer fee in installments. If the deal is completed, Kai Havertz will become Chelsea's record transfer, as his deal will surpass the £72 million ($95 million) Chelsea paid to haul in Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Club in 2018.

Chelsea is also looking to sturdy up the back, looking at signing Ben Chilwell from Leicester City, a deal that could cost The Blues around £50 million ($65 million).

The Premier League side is also dabbling on bringing in Thiago Silva on a free transfer, as the center back is fresh off a UEFA Champions League final 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich and finds himself at the end of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. Chelsea has reportedly extended the Brazil international a one-year contract offer with a club option to extend it for another 12 months.

Thiago Silva noted Sunday's Champions League final would be his last game for PSG:

“It was my last game for Paris,” he told RMC Sport after the game. “I am sad. I apologize to the fans. I thank all the supporters for their love. I'll come back with another role in this club I loved. I want to play for another 3-4 years and play in the World Cup in Qatar.”

Kai Havertz is the main cog among a myriad signings that Chelsea hopes to muster this summer under boss Frank Lampard. The German international scored 18 goals and doled out nine assists across all competitions this season and his future bodes well in the Premier League as long as Chelsea pays every cent of what Bayer Leverkusen asked for their prized young talent.
