Kao the Kangaroo returns back to life this May 27, 2022, on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and the Nintendo Switch.
The first game in the series since the 2005 title Kao the Kangaroo: Mystery of the Volcano, Kao the Kangaroo is back with a soft reboot to the game. Harkening back to the old days of 3D Platformers, the boxing glove-wearing Kangaroo is back for more adventures. Kao the Kangaroo is an anthropomorphic kangaroo on a journey searching for his sister Kaia and discovering his long-lost father’s well-protected and mysterious secret. But in his way are various fighting masters that he needs to beat in fisticuffs and ultimately face the powerful Eternal Warrior who threatens the balance of the world.
Kao the Kangaroo came back from the grave after a #BringKaoBack social media campaign trended in 2019. Just in time for the original Kao game’s 20th-anniversary celebration, Kao the Kangaroo, a reboot of the series, was announced in June 2020. The game was supposed to come out last year, but its release was pushed back to this May 2022. According to Tate Multimedia Publishing Head Kaja Borówko, Kao the Kangaroo will be “a completely different take on the story and on the character.”
So, the game is both appealing to 3D Platforming fans who loved the PSOne and PS2 era platformers but are new to the game as well as Kao the Kangaroo long-time fans. Seeing no new Spyro the Dragon games coming any time soon, then this is a great game to play to tide the long wait for the next Skylanders reboot game.
