The Minnesota Timberwolves is having another up-and-down season, which has been a trend already for several years. It's actually put a spotlight in and around Karl-Anthony Towns.

The disappointment and uncertainty continues to grow for their organization because of the constant losing seasons, along with problems that continually arise, such as their lack of leadership or subpar outside shooting. The upside is high with some of their players, but it has not resulted to a massive increase in wins.

Franchise cornerstone Karl Anthony-Towns has been so frustrated as he said in a recent interview, “I’ve lost for a long time here and I’m not trying to lose anymore. It’s pretty simple as that. Food don’t taste good, life don’t feel the same.” Towns is an intriguing piece that could catapult a playoff contender to  serious championship consideration, thus here are some organizations that could negotiate and try to swing for the fences and add Towns to their team.

Chicago Bulls

Before their team was hampered with COVID-19, the Chicago Bulls began this season on a scorching hot start with the offseason additions of DeMar DeRozan, Lonzo Ball, and Alex Caruso. Their rhythm could drastically be affected when they return, but the Bulls have proven that they could be advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals and possibly even the East Finals.

This could be insurmountable to convince Minnesota of receiving Nikola Vucevic as the centerpiece of the package, but if Towns requests for a trade, then it could possibly make the Timberwolves pull the trigger. The problem with Chicago is their lack of draft picks because they gave some of them to the Orlando Magic already. Nevertheless, Chicago could try adding Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu, and any draft pick they could include to go all-in with the core of Karl-Anthony Towns, DeRozan, LaVine, and Ball.

Charlotte Hornets

In any trade rumor that involves a center, the Charlotte Hornets are brought up because of their lack of depth at that position. If Towns is indeed in the market, the Hornets must express that most of their assets are available except for LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges. A deal that seems ideal would be Gordon Hayward, P.J. Washington, James Bouknight, and a couple of future draft capital.

Charlotte is not an attractive destination for superstars, thus if any superstar is available, they must at least call that organization and negotiate a deal in acquiring immense talent to supplement their young core. Ball could arguably be the best passer in the association right now as he would utilize the maximum skill set of Towns on all areas of the floor. Adding Karl-Anthony Towns also gives them the height to defend someone like Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo in playoff time.

Toronto Raptors

After the departure of Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka from their 2019 championship roster, the Toronto Raptors have had trouble of adding some heft and size to their front court. Drafting Scottie Barnes has been a brilliant addition to Toronto because of his incredible versatility on both ends. OG Anunoby is also another forward that has performed at an excellent level before his unfortunate hip injury.

Adding Towns to this front court addresses many of their weaknesses that would complement Anunoby and Barnes well. The trade package would revolve around Pascal Siakam and Precious Achiuwa could be enticing for Minnesota because of their run-and-gun style of play. The Timberwolves still has Naz Reid to play the five, but the attractive reason for acquiring Siakam is his defensive prowess at the forward position with Jarred Vanderbilt and Jalen McDaniels. With Anthony Edwards and D'Angelo Russell at the backcourt, superior defensive is integral for the backend of their schemes.

Trading Karl-Anthony Towns is not necessarily an intelligent move for Minnesota, but change could be necessary to find combinations that would elevate the performance of the whole team. It is already Towns' seventh season with the Timberwolves, but they have only reached the playoffs once. It is a continuous process for their front office, but there are at least some pieces for them to remain optimistic of their future.
