Death Stranding: Director's Cut won't be your regular enhanced or game of the year edition. A lot of new features and mechanics, improvements, and all cool stuff will be coming when Death Stranding: Director‘s Cut arrives on the PlayStation 5 this September.

Kart Racing, Cargo Catapult, and all sorts of new ways to get around

FedEx and DHL are getting amazing suggestions from Hideo Kojima on future tech applications on courier services, all for free. For example, Death Stranding: Director's Cut will introduce cargo catapults, allowing you to fling across large swathes of land the heavy packages you would otherwise carry around.

If you're still a traditional courier type, you can continue carrying cargo as if you're a pack mule. But thankfully, the Director's Cut also introduces support skeletons that will help Sam Porter Bridges carry more things while keeping his posture straight. This should also serve as your reminder to check your posture, stretch, and walk around every few hours in front of the PC monitor.

Finally, you can also get a cool new companion robot that can help you carry stuff around – it can even carry you around if you want to! Makes you wonder why they didn't just use robots in the first place.

And before we forget, Kojima's team managed to sneak in a race track in the game. Whatever the reason may be, we're getting the cool new Fragile Circuit in Death Stranding: Director's Cut. Race your motorbikes against other vehicles – all are cool in these race circuits that oddly don't feel out of place.

New weapons, firing range, and mounted machine guns

Of course, Death Stranding: Director's Cut will also be bringing in the big guns. First off, there will be mounted machine guns players can use when fighting against the rogue MULE. New weapons will also be introduced, allowing Sam Porter Bridges to defend himself better against MULE and BTs alike.

To test out all these new weapons in the game, a firing range will now be available for players to visit.

Death Stranding: Director's Cut Release Date: September 24, 2021

Death Stranding: Director's Cut will be arriving on the PS5 on September 24, 2021. PS4 saves can be carried over to the new game – which PS4 owners of Death Stranding can upgrade to for only $10. The game also comes with a digital deluxe edition, coming with more merchandise to sink your teeth into.

According to Kojima Productions Head of Publishing Jay Boor, the game's new content – from the added story missions to the weapons and cargo ideas – everything is integrated well into the game and nothing has been shoehorned in. “Everything from the Firing Range area, to the additional missions, to the all-new Fragile Circuit racing mode, the aim was to introduce new content that would further expand the world within Death Stranding while enhancing the core game experience,” says Boor on a post on the PlayStation Blog.

We're looking forward to this added new content for Death Stranding. September can't come any sooner – but we wish Kojima's team can also bring this eventually to PC, too.
