Despite their huge win in Game 5 against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday, the San Antonio Spurs still had a lot of reason to worry, especially after seeing their All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard hurt his ankle early in the fourth quarter.

Their fans also feared for the worst as the 25-year-old San Diego State product was not inserted in the lineup by head coach Gregg Popovich during the last few minutes of the fourth quarter, and the entire overtime period. Speculations also quickly emerged that the injury may be more serious than it appeared as Leonard was seen limping off the court after the match.

However, during the postgame interview he had, The Klaw shared that an x-ray was done to check on the severity of the ankle tweak. Although he did not divulge its results, the San Antonio faithful can now breathe a huge sigh of relief as Leonard said that he will be able to play in Game 6 on Thursday night in Houston.

After he accidentally stepped on the foot of James Harden, Leonard was still able to remain on the court, and just tried to shake off the pain he felt. Popovich then decided to sit him out towards the end-game and said it was “obvious” he couldn't play through it.

Ankle injuries are tricky to deal with and the Spurs are hoping Leonard's will not swell up and become tender overnight. Should that happen, their team trainers will need to work doubly hard to get him as close to 100 percent, and help the team move on to the conference finals in six games.
