The San Antonio Spurs have seen their situation with All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard take another turn with him making it clear that he doesn't want to remain with the team. This has put into the picture the possibility of moving him at some point over this upcoming offseason.

According to Chris Sheridan of Sheridan Hoops, there is no chance that the Spurs entertain the idea that they trade Leonard to any other Western Conference team.

The primary possible suitors for Leonard in the Western Conference appear to be the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers as the reports suggest that he wants to go back to his hometown. However, there are several other teams from the Eastern Conference that could jump into the pictures such as the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks that could make intriguing trade offers for the 26-year-old.

What makes this latest development interesting is that both the Lakers and Clippers could make significant offers that could help bring a strong haul in return. This decision may be based solely on the fact of not having to deal with Leonard in a greater capacity as a possible hurdle in the playoffs. There is also not having to help out a conference foe build a potential title contender with the acquisition of their star player as the primary piece of the puzzle.

This is unfamiliar territory for the Spurs given that they have been able to avert having to go through possible trades with any of their key players. They have also been able to keep much of that internal conflict unwraps in years past, but this time around it is quite a public situation where there is a clear disagreement between both sides concerning a significant injury that forced Leonard to miss almost the entire year.
