After undergoing surgery on his right shoulder back in May, Boston Celtics center Kelly Olynyk is set to make his season debut against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday.

It's been a long road to recovery for the 25-year-old Canadian but his return could not have been more timely for the Celtics, who are currently missing the services of Al Horford and Jae Crowder. He gives the team additional depth in their frontline even if he is expected to be eased slowly back into the rotation.

Olynyk is looking to prove himself to his team and the entire league as well as he is set to become a free agent after this season. He was not offered an extension by the Celtics before the deadline last week for the 2013 draftees because of his injury.

The Gonzaga product showed glimpses of his full potential last season when he averaged 10.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 69 games. If he plays close to his averages last year or even produces better numbers this season, it won't be surprising if Kelly Olynyk will be able to generate a lot of interest from teams looking for a young and promising big man.
