With free agency only a couple months away, the Charlotte Hornets will look to bolster their roster to prepare for the 2017-18 season. For All-Star point guard Kemba Walker, the first free agent that comes to mind is L.A. Clippers forward Blake Griffin.

“I think one of the bigger free agents this year is probably Blake Griffin,” Walker told Q City Metro's Glenn Burkins. “I think Blake would be a great fit for us. I mean, don't get y'alls' hopes up. (laughter) It sounds good.”

Griffin, who is expected to opt out of his deal as soon as the summer hits, could be a great pick-and-roll addition for Walker, who is coming off his best season as a pro. The Oklahoma native has averaged 21.7 points, 8.1 boards, 4.9 assists, and one steal per game this season for the Clippers and could benefit from having an aggressively unselfish point guard like Walker, who is bound to have a longer shelf life than Chris Paul, who will turn 32 in May and is also expected to opt out this summer.

The 6-foot-10 forward is unlikely to take his $21.3 million option next year, but has remained adamant that the organization will find a way to work out a deal.

The Clippers won't be able to sign Paul and Griffin to max contracts without risking the loss of a large part of their depth, which could make going elsewhere a somewhat enticing option.

The road to the playoffs would be far easier in the East, without the need to go through the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors every postseason — teams the Clippers have proved unable to beat since Paul's arrival in L.A.
