The Kentucky Wildcats made waves when they announced the signing of top recruit Shaedon Sharpe in November. Sharpe, who was ranked as ESPN's number-one high school prospect before joining the Wildcats, was not eligible for the NBA Draft at the time. However, according to a report from ESPN, Sharpe is now eligible for the 2022 NBA Draft. Here's how.

Shaedon Sharpe, who was ESPN's No. 1 prospect in the 2022 high school class before he joined the Kentucky Wildcats in early January, can apply for the 2022 NBA draft as an early-entry candidate, a source told ESPN on Thursday.

Per ESPN, Kentucky's Shaedon Sharpe can apply for the 2022 NBA Draft as an “early-entry candidate.” The NBA's CBA states that to be NBA Draft eligible, a player must be 19- or turning 19 in the calendar year the draft is held- and at least one NBA season has to be played since the player's graduation from high school.

Sharpe began this school year at a high school in Phoenix but was able to obtain the credits necessary to graduate before the NBA season started in October. Plus, the Kentucky recruit will turn 19 in May.

Sharpe, a 6-foot-5, 185-pound guard, is viewed as a potential, top-5 NBA Draft pick by some, as he is equipped with a large athletic frame that has allowed him to make numerous explosive plays at and above the rim.

Just because he's now eligible doesn't necessarily mean that Shaedon Sharpe will enter the 2022 NBA Draft. After all, he has yet to suit up for the Kentucky this season, something still likely to change at some point.

Whenever Sharpe ultimately does play for the Wildcats, he might not be there for long.
