Chet Holmgren began his Oklahoma City Thunder career with a loud bang against the hapless Utah Jazz in the 2022 NBA Summer League in Salt Lake City. The second overall pick from the 2022 NBA Draft had the NBA world buzzing, including the Thunder's last No. 2 pick from 15 years ago in Kevin Durant.

KD let the youngster know that he was watching via Twitter, and it probably didn't hurt that Holmgren rocked some of Durant's signature sneakers:

“I see u cookin 7. First day on the job was a success, love the kicks,” said Kevin Durant to Chet Holmgren.

Chet Holmgren showed off the exact skills that have people high on his immense potential in the NBA. He stepped out for 3-pointers, hitting four of them with little hesitation and an unblockable release point similar to that of Kevin Durant. He showed off some handles too, using a series of moves to get off a Dirk Nowitzki-esque fadeaway off:

Not only did he show off his shot-blocking ability, but he also broke the NBA Summer League record for most blocks in a game with six rejections, two of which came against 7-foot-6 Tacko Fall — and says he's gunning for more in the games to come:

There's certainly excitement brewing in Oklahoma City with their emerging crop of young studs. The Thunder came into the league with a core led by Kevin Durant that challenged for championships for half a decade.

If Chet Holmgren can reach his ceiling while his co-stars in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey show out, there's going to be a lot to be excited about for all the OKC Thunder fans out there.
