Almost a year after an ugly offseason break-up with the city he called home for eight years, star forward Kevin Durant has no regrets about his decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors in a free agency decision that changed the scope of the NBA into the collision course that it's been this postseason.

Sitting one game away from reaching the NBA Finals for the first time since 2012, when his Thunder went down 4-1 to a loaded Miami Heat team, giving LeBron James his first-ever NBA title — Durant believes his choice to become a Warrior was the correct one, whether his team wins the chip or not.

“I made the 100 percent correct decision, win or lose,” Durant told Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated after the Warriors’ practice at AT&T Center in San Antonio on Sunday. “I feel like this is the place I was supposed to be. I appreciate everything I’ve done before this. But I’m here now, and I feel like it’s a great spot for me to be.”

While many brought up Durant's previous tweet from years ago, claiming he's now fallen under the same category of players he once demonized for banding together, the 28-year-old forward asserts his decision was more than just a chance to win a ring, but a newfound passion for the game of basketball, played in a different system.

“This is where I am supposed to be at this point of my life. I’m taking it on and conquering every part of it. I’m enjoying every single step.”

The Washington D.C. native noted the feelings of Thunder fans were valid, but was quick to realize that there's no possible decision he can make to please everyone — opting to satisfy his own happiness first and let everything else take care of itself.

“They are always going to talk,” Durant said. “Nobody is ever going to be happy, no matter what you do. Definitely, I’ve got a lot of support out here. We get a lot of support. But someone is always going to discredit anything good that happens. That’s just life in general. Nobody is ever going to be 100 percent happy with everything.

“Somebody is always going to disagree. Somebody is always going to discredit. It’s just a part of life. When you want to do it for each other and for friends and family, that’s when it’s purer than anything.”
