The most common comparison for Brandon Ingram since he became a legitimate NBA prospect has been Kevin Durant.

Ingram shares the same build, which lends towards his familiar style of play. No one is putting pressure on Ingram to be exactly Durant, but if he can even become a slightly less productive version of the former MVP, it will probably mean Ingram is in line for a successful career.

Durant was asked about the comparison during a Team USA basketball practice in Las Vegas this week and had some very nice comments for this year’s number two overall draft pick.

That’s got to make Lakers fans smile. It’s also reminiscent of when Dirk Nowitzki said the same thing about Kristaps Porzingis.

KD might be a little too kind, at this time, with these words. Durant literally lit up the college basketball world during one season with the Texas Longhorns. Ingram was pretty good at Duke, but nothing close to what Durant was.

Still, Ingram had a very promising summer league and clearly has all of the tools to be a good NBA player. If it all comes together, maybe he will be the next Kevin Durant, at least in some terms.
