Yet another Golden State player has stepped up to publicly support 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in his quest for racial equality and social change. This time it's their new addition, Kevin Durant.

“I’m behind anyone who stands up for what they believe in,” Durant told Anthony Slater of the San Jose Mercury News. “Kaepernick is standing up for what he believes in. That’s what makes our country so great, right? You have the luxury to do so. He was unapologetic about it and, in his defense, I don’t think he was trying to disrespect anyone. I think he was trying to get his point across. I’m all for anyone who wants to do that.”

NBA MVP Stephen Curry was the first Warriors player to come forward earlier this week and support Kaepernick standing up for his beliefs.

“As athletes, we have this huge platform,” added Durant. “A lot of people are watching at all times. Sometimes it may not be what you do, they like. But if you feel like it’s gonna be impactful, that’s on you. I feel like everyone should stand up for what they believe.”

Durant and Curry are not just some of the many athletes that have come forward supporting the quarterback, their exposure as two of the most recognized faces in the league directly echoes their opinion that much louder.

This is surely not the last we'll hear of it, as more and more athletes will step forward. The NBA has been very receptive of their athletes speaking out on social change and that acceptance will welcome more voices coming from the hardwood.
