Kevin Garnett may have only retired last summer after a stellar 21-year career in the NBA, but he already considered hanging his sneakers for good three years ago.

Garnett, who came to the league straight out of high school, planned to continue his education back in 2013. Also part of his plan was to have a reality show following his journey through college.

The former MVP and 15-time All-Star's teammate last season, Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Zach LaVine, was recently guested by The Vertical's Chris Mannix  on his podcast and shared Garnett's story to him.

“I can tell this story now because it's not going to happen. He was retired. But when it ended in Boston, he thought he was done in Boston. He thought it was going to end there. Paul (Pierce) had to talk him into the trade to Brooklyn.

“He was on a plane to China with the head of Showtime Sports, and he went up to this guy — Stephen Espinoza's his name. He went up to Stephen and said, ‘I've got an idea for a show. How about I go to college?' KG came out of high school, he never went to college. He wanted to go to college, live in the dorm, and let Showtime shoot it.”

Although it never materialized, it would have been a first of its kind to have a retired NBA player pursue his education and have a reality show about it. It may still not be too late for Garnett to reconsider it and even at 40-years-old now he can still enroll in school and have the cameras following his every move.
